Stays of the Day: WhatsApp Now Supports GIFs

You can now send and create GIFs with the popular Facebook-owned chat app, WhatsApp. Whether you want to punctuate your conversations with a dog on a skateboard or something from your own camera roll, now you can. That and more in today’s news.

• WhatsApp now supports GIFs. You can create your own six-second GIFs with your camera and convert iOS Live Photos, or you can just search Giphy and Tenor within the app. The feature is now available on iOS with an Android version coming soon.

• Microsoft will be adding a virtual trackpad to Windows 10. The feature is currently available to Windows Insiders testing beta versions of the software. The purpose for such a thing is a little confusing, but you’d be able to control an external monitor with a Windows tablet as though you were using a mouse. [Windows Blog]

• OnePlus will unveil new hardware on November 15th. The company announced on Twitter that the Snapdragon 821 processor is “coming your way” in a device they’re apparently referring to as the T-7. The Snapdragon 821 is the same processor used in the Google Pixel. [OnePlus Twitter via TechCrunch]

• Last night, GoPro recalled about 2,500 units of its new drone. Some units were losing power in the air unpredictably. [Gizmodo]

• Apple is testing a new “SOS” feature that will let you make an emergency call by rapidly tapping the power button five times. It then emits a short alarm countdown (presumably to alert you to accidental activation and not necessarily as an emergency beacon itself) before calling an emergency number.
